Sum frequency generation from touching wires: a transformation optics approach

چکیده

We employ transformation optics to study analytically nonlinear wave mixing from a singular geometry of touching plasmonic wires. obtain the analytic solution near field and complement it with far-field properties. find, somewhat surprisingly, that optimal efficiency (in both regimes) is obtained for degenerate case second-harmonic generation. exploit trace this behavior spatial overlap input fields geometric singularity.

We show that the Plebanski based approach to transformation optics overlooks some subtleties in the electrodynamics of moving dielectrics that restricts its applicability to a certain class of transformations.
